Honor who?

Everything takes longer than I expect when it comes to my hobbies. I messed about entirely too long today with magnets, trying to make do with what I had and in the end ordered more anyway.

So nothing finished… but working on my Dropfleet Commander project got me in the mood for sci-fi reading. I finally started the Honor Harrington series by David Weber.

It has come highly recommended to me by several people since I like the Hornblower series by CS Forester.

And, well it sure reads like Hornblower in Space.

In a good way.

I like it. The Star Kingdom of Manticore seems very… um… British. Or at least stereotypically British. Which gives Honor and her crew a very Royal Navy vibe… a very Napoleonic era Royal Navy.

  1. I like it a lot. If you enjoy the mathematics of space combat and the time and velocity of missiles over long distances, it’s even better. I’m actually a Marine Colonel in the The Royal Manticore Navy – the Honor Harrington Fan Club – Commanding Officer of the 95th RMMC Rifle Regiment (Dresden Regiment) , 15th Rifle Division – stationed on the HMS Guadacanal, Talbot Fleet, 10th Naval District.

And I have a cool uniform and everything. Here’s my ribbon rack (if the URL coding works here)

Thanks for your input. The more of the book I read the more I enjoyed it. As for your fan support, I love it! Things like that really make the fictional universe come alive.
